Director, Business Analytics Insights & Strategy (Boston, USA)


The Manager of Business Analytics Insights & Strategy is responsible for leading the BAIS function within the Commercial department.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversight of BAIS team members
  • Provides high quality reporting, analysis and insights to management, as directed
  • Responsible for all reporting and dashboarding presented internally and externally
  • Identifies, analyses and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Collaborates with Business Development team for account planning, pipeline forecasting and client initiatives
  • Responsible for Commercial department forecasting, budgeting and strategic planning
  • Develops creative solutions utilizing internal and external resources to prioritize targeting efforts, identify industry trends and drive business development growth
  • Provides oversight of data, quality, and structure in sales systems
  • Presents findings and insights in a consultative way, and collaborates with the relevant internal teams in order to provide a complete solution
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders during integration activities and ensures data quality
  • Prepares management-level presentations for various occasions
  • Collaborates with all Commercial functions on data insights and strategic initiatives
  • Leads cross department projects to deliver quality solutions for the organization

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, business analytics, or related field


  • Not less than three (3) years’ experience working in an analytics role, preferably in a biotech, pharmaceutical, CRO/CMO, or similar organization


  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional projects
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills complemented by the ability to effectively present to small and large groups
  • Strong analytical skills with a goal-oriented attitude
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with an ability to outline initiatives and develop priorities in support of that vision
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial work ethic

Preferred Credentials

  • Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or related field of study

  • Infrequent supervision and instructions
  • Frequently exercises discretionary authority

Working Environment

  • Primarily office
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
  • Work requires occasional travel

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in an upright and/or stationary position for up to eight (8) hours per day
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists to operate office equipment
  • Occasional mobility needed
  • Occasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moving) objects, including luggage and laptop computer, with a maximum lift of 20 pounds

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position
  • Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours
  • Occasional weekend, holiday, and evening work required
  • Must be able to obtain a valid passport and travel internationally as required
